Think Ahead of the Box for Super Affiliation

Think Ahead of the Box for Super Affiliation

I actually wrote a similar type post on my own website but deleted it after being cussed out for giving away too much information.  It was actually quite ironic because the post was information I had given to that particular affiliate.

It goes to show it’s hard to find sincere people in the gambling industry, thus why I try to stay to myself these days.  Some just “snap” at you out of the blue so for my sanity I’ll leave a lot of specifics out of this post.

Anyways, I wanted to write a blog post for Randy because I’ve always felt in some ways we have a similar style in thinking about what it takes to become a “super affiliate”.  Personally I hate that term because it can range from someone making $100,000 a year to a $1 million a month and who cares anyways, just so you’re comfortable with what you make.
For our sakes we’ll just say “make a crap ton of money”.  That concept is of capturing niches and utilizing small traffic keywords to make lots of money but guess what, I’m not going to rehash that in this article.

Ok, so how do we make a crap ton of money?  You do so by thinking ahead of the box!  Not in it, not outside of it, but ahead of it.  If you peddle your little box along the road and hit a bump, it’s your fault for getting stuck and falling behind while everyone passes you up.

Look at the industry and you’ll see what I mean.  Almost every super affiliate out there had a concept of their own and went with it.  It’s really sad to read on the poker affiliate forums about the same guys who were posting 5 years ago, continue to struggle in the industry simply because they do the same old crap over and over.

I’ll give you a little example of what I mean from a personal experience.  Back about 4-5 years ago almost no poker sites were Mac compatible.  I was just a small time affiliate working at a golf course (TPC Sawgrass).  When I moved to Jacksonville, Florida USA I had to borrow my mothers Mac after college because I didn’t even own a computer nor could I afford one!

At the time I was one of those part time players just skimping by, but also making a little money on the side promoting a poker ebook I  had compiled that had stories of internet pros I had interviewed along with strategy for playing online.  It was probably like the 2nd ebook written for online play, and that was when you could post URL’s in Party Poker’s chat box.
That’s right ladies and gents, I was a full time spammer advertising my ebook url in the chat boxes during my college days.  It was short lived because Party Poker caught on months later and disabled live urls in the chat box, then disabled .com words from being posted.

Sorry, I’m getting off topic.  Ok so back to the Mac thing.  After leaving my buddies house in college to begin the 9-5 real word crap I knew it wouldn’t work for me.  I tried downloading Party Poker on my Mac and being the tech retard I couldn’t figure out why the hell a Mac wouldn’t download Party Poker.  That single thing literally changed my life once I figured out Macs were different.

At this time Mac compatible online gambling sites were an emerging market and I began my “true” marketing experience buying up any advertising I could, directing my affiliate URLS to Pacific Poker, and also venturing out researching everything I could about press releases.  During my research of press releases I knew they were a gold mine.  That’s how I came across Partyriches (now Pokeraffiliatelistings) by googling about press releases and some guy named ex-croupier explaining press releases more in detail in a forum post.

There were three untapped markets directly in front of my face.  Press releases, buying Mac related advertising from Mac portals, and simply the Mac poker and casino market.  I recall the day telling my co-worker at TPC I made $30,000 that month and he called me a liar.  Right then I told him I would be a millionaire very soon, he rolled his eyes, but ended up eating his words sure enough!

I’ll admit I stumbled across that market and wasn’t really “looking ahead of the box” at the time.  But since then I’ve taken the simple concept of reading what the market is doing and and have applied it to various emerging markets and concepts.  When people say getting rich overnight, that’s pretty much how you can do it in the poker and casino marketing world.  But it does involve a TON of research and constantly keeping up to date with the market.  It’s the lazy mans way out.

Let’s assume all the niche’s are taken in the gambling marketing market.  With current laws in so many countries right now there will be more opportunity than ever before to stay ahead of the curve, think ahead of the box, and make your move.

I hope I provided a little insight into not only a way for you to make some real money without too much effort, and provided you with a little bit of my background.  There’s no secret, just be smart and do it for god sakes or be like the rest of the dingbats out there complaining about how bad the economy is.

This is a great post, I remember the first conversation I had with Roger when he showed me his site I asked him “does it make you any money?”. At the time I was a pretty clueless new affiliate, obviously not seeing any inner layers to the market.

Thanks for sharing man. I still think of your US page as one of the best examples of what it takes to be a cut above the rest. Any new affiliate wondering what it takes to get natural links need only refer to that, and it sure wasn’t done by purchasing a $25 article.
