I’ve got some ideas about monetizing a poker blog that I’d like to share. Some of them I’ve done myself in the past, and some of them I might try to do in the future. But this post is mostly aimed at real poker bloggers–the ones who write about poker because they love it, NOT because they’re trying to make a buck. I’ve noticed that some poker blogs are not mone...

I know that there are some beginners out there who are asking themselves how to write a poker article. Here’s a formula for writing an interesting poker article to post at your site, and you can use this formula over and over again.
The formula is this: read about poker + play poker + think about poker + put your thoughts down in writing = how to write a poker article.

(Actually, this might be more of a keyword tactic than a keyword strategy, or maybe it’...

I’ve been wanting to write an article about web hosting for poker sites for quite a while now. I’m including affiliate links for some of them, because the commissions are good. And I also think that anyone who has been reading the blog here for any length of time knows that I’m not the type of person to recommend a host just because they’ll pay me a commission. In fact, I ...

I’m planning to write and self publish a book titled How to Increase the Value of a Website, but I thought it would be fun to post some of my ideas on the subject here first. Also, I’m seeking case studies and anecdotes to include in the book, so I’d be grateful to anyone who might be willing to contact me with stories about things they’ve done to increase the value of the...

The recent actions by the Department of Justice and the subsequent departure of almost all of the online, USA facing cardrooms underscores the need to have a diverse portfolio of income-generating websites. But how do you do that? What should you diversify, and why?
Diversify Website Topics
People like to specialize, and specialization, as a GENERAL rule, is good. But putting all of your eggs int...

Download sitemap.php.zip
You can see a demo of this PHP script in action on the sitemap of ThePokerBank.com.
What is it?
This PHP script will generate a basic PHP sitemap for your website.
It runs through all the folders on your website and returns a hierarchal, unordered HTML list of links with headings (optional) for the pages on your site.
Why it’s handy.
Pages will automatically be added ...

Keeping Things in Perspective as a Poker Affiliate
There is little doubt that affiliate marketing can be a healthy part of a poker site’s advertising efforts. With that being said poker affiliates need to keep in mind that an affiliate program is just that – part of the bigger advertising picture for a poker room. An affiliate program isn’...
